Amílcar Cabral International Airport (IATA: SID, ICAO: GVAC), also known as Sal International Airport, is Cape Verde’s main international airport. The airport is named after the revolutionary leader Amílcar Cabral.
It is located 2 km west-southwest of Espargos on the island of Sal. Until September 2005, it was the only airport in Cape Verde that served international flights. In 2004 it was the first time that it exceeded one million passengers. Later, when other airports were opened to international traffic, it lost passengers who were distributed among the new airports.
