Kmke – GEN. Mitchell Intl. Airport (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020
Kmke – GEN. Mitchell Intl. Airport (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) for MSFS 2020

NOTE: This is a solo project and still currently a Work in Progress. That being said, the mod is currently in a state where I feel it should exceed the default airport in terms of visuals and accuracy and doesn’t have anything that is glaringly broken or would cause issues. Any future progress is to add details like custom 3D models and small scenery objects, the rest of the airport should already be complete in v1.0.

KMKE – General Mitchell International Airport

KMKE is located in south-east Wisconsin a few miles from the shore of Lake Michigan. It serves as the states primary hub for domestic and international commercial travel. It is the busiest airport in the state and contains 5 paved runways, 3 terminals, multiple private FBOs and service centers, and the 128th Air National Guard base. The primary airlines to pass through are Southwest, United, and Frontier with a cargo ramp setup for FedEx and UPS. Runways 25L/7R and 1L/19R are generally reserved for high speed traffic and/or planes requiring an ILS approach. 25R/7L and 13/31 are used by smaller GA or turboprop traffic to keep out of the way of the jets and also offer easier access to the FBOs which are mostly located in the north.

Features (1.0):
✔ Resurfaced all taxiways, runways, aprons, service roads, and parking lots
✔ Custom 3D models for the control tower and FBO on the north ramp
✔ Repainted entire airport with custom lines
✔ Added/removed parts of the airport that have been constructed/removed since the satellite image was taken
✔ Fully rebuilt the cargo ramp, north ramp, and east hangar areas
✔ Handplaced all taxiway signs which now display the correct information
✔ Added taxiway edge lights
✔ Rebuilt terminal gates and added apron markings (WIP)
✔ Removed random windsocks and satellite artifacts

✔ Added blast pad and fire station
✔ Compatible with in-game ATC (or at least it should be, haven’t tested too extensively yet)

Planned Updates:
No timeline on any of this because I have no idea myself how long this could take. I will push each version once they are completed.

v1.1 – Add custom hangar models and finish work on the west ramp. Add the bright blue rental storage sheds near the approach end of 25L
v1.2 – Add custom hangars for the 128th Air Refueling Wing and finish work on the Air National Guard base
v1.3 – Finish work on the fire station and southern ramp; potentially add the Textron hangar
*v1.4 – Add the parking structure, all terminal buildings, and anything else like the B-25 diorama and static plane on the Air Wisconsin ramp (been there forever lol)

✔ – This is highly dependent on me even being able to make the models in Blender. I truthfully don’t know if it is within my skill set to do so. At first glance I think can make these models but this part of the project will require much more time than anything else which is why it is last.

Known Issues:
✔ Occasionally the custom models seem to take a few seconds to load in.
