New airport, not included with the vanilla game, as none are in Antarctica.
Marambio Base, ICAO: SAWB (Estación Marambio) is a permanent, all year-round Argentine Antarctica station. At the time of its construction it was the first permanent airfield in Antarctica. It serves as the gateway to Argentine’s and other nation’s bases. It can be approached all year by wheeled aircraft, and serves as a hub and research base, operated by the Argentinian military.
Expect some rough weather with tough approaches. and hard landings. Assets are all stock since this is my first SDK project. However, runways, approaches and services should be fairly accuate. Scenery includes the new runway 01 which is used for takeoff towards the north only and still missing from most charts. ATC, parking and fuel service are included, so you can use this as a hub for Antarctica bush flying. Unfortunately, neither Bing nor Google has a lot of data in Antarctica. I will try to add more Antarctica airbases when I find the time.
Installation: Just drop the unzipped folder into your community folder.
Known Issues:
ATC on the ground bugs out after giving taxi instructions. You are stuck at “say again”. However, you can still park and get fuel. I am l trying to figure out why this happens.
Due to the original Bing data, there are some terrain glitches outside the airport area. They do not impact gameplay however.
