Meira is a parish in the Pontevedra municipality of Moaña, in the autonomous community of Galicia, Spain.
It is the largest of the parishes in the municipality. In October 1836, when the current town councils were established, that of Moaña was created under the name of Meira and has this parish as its administrative center. In 1874 the name of the municipality was changed to Moaña and its capital was moved.
The parish of Meira, one of the largest in the municipality of Moaña, descends from Mount Faro de Domaio (630 meters above sea level) to the cove of Meira, on a low and sandy coastline very affected by the tides and an important extraction point for bivalves that are the result of intense commercialization. The interior of the parish is made up of a long valley that descends from the limits with the municipality of Marín to the coastline, watered by the river da Fraga and other streams.
The population, very dense, is grouped in several large villages, nowadays highly urbanized, among which Moureira (677 inhabitants in 2010) and Reibón (790 inhabitants in 2010) stand out. It has an inshore fishing port, a nautical sports port and several industrial ports in the O Latón neighborhood. In the parish of Meira is the promenade and green area of A Xunqueira, with the great beach of the same name; also the ecological path that runs through much of the course of the river da Fraga, where there are several old hydraulic flour mills. Meira has several important petroglyphs from the Bronze Age, as well as the castro of As Cidades, the parish church of Santa Eulalia and the chapel of San Bartolomé, on the islet of the same name, today attached to the mainland.
