The Temple of Olympian Zeus or Olympia , colloquially referred to as the Columns of Olympian Zeus or ( etymologically correct ) Pillars of Olympian Zeus is an important ancient temple in the center of Athens . Although its construction began in the 6th century BC, it was not completed until the Roman emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD. It was the largest church in Greece during the Hellenistic and Roman times.
